Georgia’s Lauren Alaina rises to the top, despite vocal emergency

Despite a last minute vocal emergency, Georgia teen Lauren Alaina rose to the top after gaining the edge during a final showdown on American Idol. According to a physician who treated Lauren, the young Georgia singer blew out one of her vocal chords during rehearsals. “It’s like a runner running with a sprained ankle,” he stated. Alaina was treated with medicines and seen by a team of doctors this afternoon. “I’m ready to go,” Georgia’s most popular teen said before taking to the stage one last time.

Despite her emergency, Lauren Alaina sang her three songs like an angel. For her own choice, Lauren picked “Flat on the Floor” by Carrie Underwood. For her Idols pick, Carrie Underwood chose “Maybe It Was Memphis” for the Georgia teen. Lauren’s third and final performance was a song that would be her first single if she wins American Idol.
