HATSUNE MIKU - THE DIGITAL MEGASTAR

This became news to me while I was watching KTLA Evening News about a projected persona named Hatsune Miku who had a concert recently in Los Angeles. She is donned as, "An android diva in the near-future world where songs are lost." Check out the footage below:

If this may seem a bit strange to you, you're not alone. This phenomena is incredible, not to mention that the concert in Los Angeles of Hatsune Miku was sold out! And no there isn't just a Japanese fan base, this has travelled internationally where people are getting into this craze donning blue wigs.

Researching on this phenomena a little, this is a singing synthesizer application developed by Crypton Future Media with a female persona named Hatsune Miku. Her voice is sampled from Japanese voice actress Saki Fujita and performs onstage as a projection. They took these voice samples in a controlled pitch and tone which were strung together to create full words and phrases.

In order for this persona to be successful, an image needed to be accompanied by the appealing voice. The image of Hatsune Miku went to manga artist KEI Garo, who had the direction of sticking with Yamaha's cyan colors. Her appearance she is known by is the mini skirt, boots, cyan color pigtails, and eyes.

You Just Do You, Imma Do Me
