We had reported that Anushka Sharma was detained by Customs officials at the Mumbai airport, after the actress tried to pass through the green channel, with jewelery and valuables worth Rs. 35 lakhs. Now the Income Tax Department too has shifted its focus on the young actress and may question the actress on her income and tax returns.
Earlier, Anushka was returning from Toronto after attending the IIFA awards ceremony. The actress on passing through the green channel was found in possession of designer watches and diamond jewelery, which the actress said she had taken from India. Though the actress was adamant with this excuse, she hadn't declared these valuable to the Customs on her departure, which is considered mandatory to claim import exemption. Anushka was also stressed after Customs officials detained her at the Mumbai airport for close to nine hours. Actresses Minissha Lamba and Bipasha Basu too faced a similar situation few months ago, but were let off with a fine.
