Engagement's off for Jay Cutler and Kristin Cavallari - The Denver Post

The engagement of Jay Cutler and Kristin Cavallari is off. The break came just three months after the Chicago Bears quarterback proposed to the former "Hills" star. A source told People, "She got dumped. She's absolutely devastated. She can't believe this is happening." Cavallari, 24, and Cutler, 28, had just celebrated their planned wdding next spring with an engagement party last week and the two had recently completed their wedding registry. "She was planning her dream wedding, the date was set, the location - everything was set," the source said. On Saturday night, Cavallari was spotted without her engagement ring at The Beverly in L.A. -- and telling friends including Nicky Hilton that the wedding had been called off, People said.

Cutler also changed his Facebook status to single and warned friends on his account not to talk trash about Cavallari, according to Radaronline.

"Thank you all for the support, but if you talk bad about Kristin I will delete and block you," Jay wrote on his Facebook page early yesterday morning.

"It's unnecessary and heartless. Also, don't say now I can play football, I could play football when I had her compared to when I don't. Football is the least of my worries, so have some respect."

Bells are Ringing Alert™: Two famous women get engaged! No, not to each other.

It's been a slow week in the supermarket rags. I haven't been able to find a copy of this week's low rent Examiner anywhere, the Sun was completely lame as was the Weekly World News, and the number of stories about Wills'N'Kate pushed other gossip off the covers.

Also, we get two engagements of women who have nothing to do with each other lumped into a single story.

Kate and Kristin.

I know what you're asking? Kate who?

This time it's Kate Hudson, who has never, ever been important enough to be known just by her first name in the gossip world.

A year ago, Kate meant Kate Gosselin. Now, it means Kate Middleton. Tabloid headline writers, please take note.

And the other one is Kristin Cavallari. There are boatloads of Kristens and Kirstens and Kirsties in the gossip world right now. Technically, the only other Kristin with two "i"s is Kristin Davis of the Sex and the City series, but she has only had one mention in sixteen months, so Kristin Cavallari kinda sorta deserves the first name basis, since this is her sixth cover story.
