BRIDESMAIDS - Anticipation Failure.

I was seriously anticipating this movie for awhile. Looking at the previews, it looked soo0o0 funny. After two hours of sitting in a theatre yesterday, I can say that I was a bit disappointed.

Bridesmaids is about two best friends named Annie [Kristen Wiig] and Lillian [Maya Rudolph]. Things change dramatically for both of them, when Lillian get engaged. Asking Annie to be her Maid of Honor, she accepts but finds out that planning the day of ultimate love and happiness is harder than she thinks because her life isn't going too well. Annie is in a sex-only relationship, has a job at a jewelry store since her bakery went out of business, and is now losing her best friend. As the days to the wedding get closer, Annie is losing her mind while Lillian's fiance's boss' wife, Helen, is trying to take over the entire planning of the wedding. After causing much havoc and getting kicked out of the bridal party, Annie finds the importance of turning her life around to find her own happiness. She begins baking again, and starts falling for a man who is actually nice to her. While she's finding herself, Lillian and Annie make up in time for Lillian's wedding.

With many ill-humored male dominant comedies out nowadays, I thought this movie would be the answer for females. The previews made the movie out to be some sort of raunchy comedy such as The Hangover and Superbad, but it wasn't at all. Yes, there are some explicit parts, but the story was truly about friendship and finding your own internal happiness. And yes, that is a nice message, but I just feel it was a huge let down. I wish they would've went to Vegas, and let the craziness catch on from there, now that would've been a comedy!!! Oh well, hopefully the sequel, which is in the talks already will push more envelopes that female comedies haven't yet reached to this day.
