Nikki Reed

Nicole Houston "Nikki" Reed, born May 17, 1988 is an American film and television actress, and screenwriter. She became known in 2003, after the release of the film Thirteen, for which she co-wrote the screenplay. Reed has since appeared in several films, including Lords of Dogtown and Mini's First Time. She also portrays Rosalie Hale in The Twilight Saga.

Early life and education

Reed was born in West Los Angeles, California. She is the daughter of Cheryl Houston, a beautician, and Seth Reed, a set designer. She has an older brother, Nathan August Reed. Reed's father is Jewish and her mother is of Cherokee and Italian descent; Reed was raised without religion, though she has described herself as "Jewish" and grew up around Judaism (her brother had a Bar Mitzvah).

Reed has stated that her early home life was "complicated." Her parents divorced when she was two, and she grew up with her mother.

After Thirteen's success, Reed returned to Alexander Hamilton High School, but dropped out again after a year. She cited her experiences involving "mothers who were sneaking into the school at lunchtime to confront and harass her about the film" as the reason for her departure. Reed was subsequently home-schooled, and she eventually received her high-school diploma.

Personal life

Reed met singer-songwriter and season 10 American Idol contestant Paul McDonald on the red carpet at the premiere of Red Riding Hood in March 2011. The moment they met was broadcast on an American Idol episode as part of a segment that showed the contestants attending the premiere. The pair soon began dating, and moved in together not long after. At the MTV Movie Awards on June 5, 2011, Reed was photographed wearing what appeared to be an engagement ring. Marc Malkin of E! claimed on his blog that the couple was engaged, though no official announcement has been made on behalf of Reed or McDonald.

She is close friends with her Twilight co-stars, particularly Jackson Rathbone.

In June 2010, Reed launched an official website that features a blog, where she discusses a variety of subjects, both personal and professional. Reed states on her website that she does not have a Facebook, Myspace, or Twitter account.

Career

Reed and director Catherine Hardwicke finished the script for the semi-autobiographical film Thirteen in six days, a relatively short time for a Hollywood script to be written. Producers asked Reed to play a role in the film because they had trouble casting it, considering it an "uncomfortable" role for most young actresses. The film, starring Evan Rachel Wood, was released in 2003 with positive reviews, giving Reed some recognition in Hollywood as both an actress and a screenwriter. Following the film's release, Reed also appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and hosted a number of award shows, including the Young Hollywood Awards (2003) and the Independent Spirit Awards Nomination Show, followed by the West Independent Spirits Awards, both in 2004.

Reed has continued to portray sexually promiscuous teenagers, including her character in Lords of Dogtown, also directed by Hardwicke. In early 2006, she appeared on the series The O.C., playing Sadie, a new love interest for the character Ryan Atwood. Reed noted she disagreed with the "trendy and shallow things" that The O.C. promoted, and that she appeared in the series only on the advice of her agents. Coincidentally, Reed appeared on The O.C. at the same time as later Twilight co-stars Cam Gigandet and Jackson Rathbone. Reed later commented that her decision to avoid appearances on television or in mainstream cinema was naïve. She explained that her avoidance was due to the thought that if it wasn’t an independent film, it wasn’t right for her.

One of her most distinctive roles was in Mini's First Time, which received a limited release in the United States on July 14, 2006. In the film, Reed played a teenager who, through seduction, involves her stepfather in a plot to murder her mother. Reed has noted that her character does not "understand the weight of consequence," and that she enjoyed playing someone who she describes as "crass" and having a "trucker's mouth. Reed's character participates in explicit sex scenes, which had to be filmed from the point of view of Reed's back, as she was 16 at the time and thus legally unable to film her scenes in a more explicit manner.

On February 12, 2008, it was announced that Reed would portray Rosalie Hale in the film adaption of Twilight, which was directed by Catherine Hardwicke. In June 2008, Reed wrote a letter to her fans, thanking them for supporting her through the controversy that surrounded her, a brunette, being cast as Rosalie (described as a blonde).

During a radio interview with Big O and Dukes of WJFK 1067, Jason Mewes stated that he is doing a movie called K-11 with Reed and Kristen Stewart, also of Twilight. The film, directed by Stewart's mother, takes place in a dorm of the Los Angeles County Jail, and was to feature both Stewart and Reed as male characters. However, after being asked about the project in an interview, Reed expressed that she is no longer part of the K-11 project. In 2003, she received her first award, an Nantucket Film Festival Award for 'Best Screenplay' for the movie 'Thirteen' which she shared with Catherine Hardwicke. In 2010, she also received an award for 'Superstar In The Making' at the Young Hollywood Awards.

In November 2009, Reed directed a music video for her good friend Sage while in London. Reed stated that they didn't have much time, or money, but it's something she is very proud of. Reed also intends to direct a music video for the independent rock band 100 Monkeys, which is fronted by her Twilight costar, Jackson Rathbone.

In July 2010, Reed joined the lady assassin action-drama Catch .44 alongside Bruce Willis, Forest Whitaker and Malin Akerman.

Twilight cast descends on Comic-Con

Just a little after 6:15 a.m., faithful Twi-hard fans, who have long been lined up outside of Comic-Con’s Hall H, were rewarded for their efforts when cast members from Breaking Dawn showed up to give their thanks with with a surprise breakfast.

Nikki Reed (Rosalie), Ashley Greene (Alice), Elizabeth Reaser (Esme), Boo Boo Stewart (Seth Clearwater), and Julia Jones (Leah Clearwater), sneaked up on on Camp Breaking Dawn. Fans, who were just waking up from a long night in line, thought the surprise were the free Twilight posters and mugs being given out by the studio. Little did they know!

Unsurprisingly, when members of the Cullen clan and the wolfpack showed up (with apples, bananas, muffins and water), a delighted cheer rippled down the line, as Reed and Greene posed for photos and signed autographs. (More than one fan wished Reed congratulations on her recent engagement to American Idol season 10 contestant Paul McDonald.) “I was very sleepy, but now I’m awake,” Jones joked as she posed for a photograph. “This is my first San Diego Comic-Con and this is some other level.” Her favorite scene from the upcoming film, she said, was a quiet one between Leah and Jacob (Taylor Lautner). “It was so nice… and really poignant. It was just the two of us — usually there are so many characters around. It was this beautiful day.” Next up, she had to ready herself for the scene that will take place in a few hours at Hall H when the cast assembles on stage. ”The shrieking is the most shocking thing,” she said. “But here we go.

Greene and Reed were also joined by actors Elizabeth Reaser, Booboo Stewart and Julia Jones. Breaking Dawn Part 1 is in theaters Nov. 18.

JOE JONAS: THE ULTIMATE HOLLYWOOD HEARTBREAKER

His first victim was Taylor Swift, the country sweetheart. She had no problem ousting the details of everything Joe Jonas did wrong in their relationship. Taylor hinted that her next boyfriend would be someone who wasn't ashamed of going out in public with her. But what really shocked people was when she said he broke up with her in 27 seconds over the phone.

After meeting on the set of the Jonas Brothers music video "Lovebug", Joe soon after broke up with Taylor Swift and started dating actress Camilla Belle (though they look like they might be related, no?!). He wrote a song "Much Better" that was supposedly about find a better girlfriend than the previous relationship (implying Camilla > Taylor?!). Though it's not sure why Joe and Camilla broke up, many rumors started to circulate over her relationship with rising tennis star and fellow Brazilian Fernando Verdasco. Camilla claims that she prefers Brazilian men because they are more sensual and more comfortable with their sexuality. Joe Jonas was and currently admits to being heartbroken from this relationship because he wasn't ready to end this since Camilla broke up with him.

Next on his list was fellow Disney star Demi Lovato. After starring in Camp Rock together, they constantly denied their relationship until afterwards. For only a few months, they ended their romance on good terms. Joe Jonas insisted that it was "his choice" to break up with her, but that they still will remain great friends.

Now his latest break-up making headlines is with Twilight star Ashley Greene. After dating for almost a year, these two seemed very content in their relationship. Though he was busy with music and touring around the world, she was also always on set to film the latest movie of the Twilight saga. Recently both Joe and Ashley gushed about each other to different media outlets, but last week it was confirmed about their split up in amiable terms.

Which brings me to my next point, which Hollywood star will this Joe Bro have as his next victim? This serial dater seems to honestly be addicted to relationships. Supposedly since his ex Ashely Greene is rumored to already be seeing Kings of Leon bassist Jared Followill, he has begun "flirting" via Twitter with Pretty Little Liars star Ashley B. I guess we'll just have to wait and see, not like it's going to take awhile before Joe Jonas jumps into another relationship!
