RedSkins

With players scheduled to report to training camp Thursday, Mike Jones points out five areas that need addressing by Coach Mike Shanahan and company.
1. Capitalize on the free agent market
The Redskins are expected to be active; among their more pressing needs: starting cornerback, nose tackle, defensive end, right tackle, guard and possibly a wide receiver.
2. Re-sign
Santana Moss
Moss, who has led the team in receiving the past six seasons, just turned 32 but is coming off one of his best seasons. Both sides say they want to continue the relationship.
3. Deal with the Haynesworth saga
Last year’s biggest headache remains unresolved. He doesn’t want to be here, but after investing so much money, the Redskins have little desire to release him and even less trade leverage.
4. Address the McNabb situation
McNabb, 34, must be traded or cut by Week 1 if the Redskins are to avoid paying a $10 million roster bonus. But after benching him for last season’s final three games, they have little leverage.
5. Figure out the other quarterbacks
John Beck appears to be the starter, despite the fact that he hasn’t taken a snap since 2007. The Redskins also plan to re-sign Rex Grossman. Will they add a third veteran?
