Topeka teen takes 4th in Miss Teen USA

Taylor Clark, a soon-to-be senior at Washburn Rural High School, was named the third runner-up in Saturday night's Miss Teen USA pageant in Nassau, Bahamas.



"She did wonderful," said her father, Bruce Clark, of Topeka, who was headed home from the event Sunday.



Clark, 17, was crowned Miss Teen Kansas in December, Bruce Clark said.



The honor-roll student is captain of the WRHS Dancin' Blues dance team and is a varsity track athlete. She was selected as part of the All-City track and field team.



Clark, who was born and raised in Topeka, recently won the 2011-2012 Tremaine Dance Dancers of the Year Senior Female award. The 30th anniversary Tremaine 2011 National Finals took place July 7-11 in Orlando, Fla.



Clark is a senior dancer at the Dance Factory, where she also teaches.



As a 12-year-old seventh-grader at Washburn Rural Middle School, Taylor Clark was named the National American Miss Preteen Queen.



Bruce Clark said his daughter competed in a formal evening dress round and a swimsuit round. She also had a personal interview with judges and took part in a question-and-answer session with the final five.



Taylor Clark is the daughter of Bruce and Cindy Clark. She has a 20-year-old brother, Brandon. All three attended the pageant in the Bahamas.

Model Amber Rose rocked a brown bodysuit tonight at the BET Awards while on the arm of her man Whiz Khalifa. The two walked the green carpet at the show, and even smooched for the cameras!



Whiz kissed his gal again when he walked to the stage to accept the Best New Artist award during the show. He came up to the mic and said: "I'm not used to winning stuff, so I didn't come with no speech tonight. But I want to thank everybody at Rostrum Records, ... all my fans, Taylor [Gang] and all the young people who promote positivity and just enjoying yourself, this is for y'all."

There have been plenty of breakup and cheating rumors about these two over the last few months, but it appears that they're very much together! Engaged? Perhaps. Together? Definitely.

2011 THE YEAR OF NOTHINGNESS?

I had a feeling that the year 2011 was going to be a great year. I was very optimistic about what lay ahead for me, most notably in the job market. I just finished my internship at KTLA and was ready to move on from a job I didn't like AT ALL.

Six months later I feel myself at almost the same position...Yes, I have been on a whole lot of interviews yet haven't landed one yet. I am actually waiting on two jobs, and one interview but as of now all I can do is wait. I haven't found myself applying to any jobs lately but I probably should until I secure a job. I just pray that my next job will be something I love and is a step in the direction I want to be in the future.

2011 has started off with many disastrous things: earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, fires, hurricanes, and tornadoes. Does this mean the end is approaching? I keep hearing that the Book of Revelation talks about how the end is near when all these disasters start happening in the world. It's not that I'm afraid of dying, it's that I know of my potential to do great things in the future and I don't want it to be cut short anytime soon. I feel my life, almost a year out of college right now is still in the process of growing within and with my other relationships.

One thing I have been blessed with is a great relationship with my parents and friends. Through my struggles as of now, they have always been there for me to offer support and they never cease to give words of encouragement. I feel that right now is such a hard time for me to cope with as I am feeling a little heartbroken about a few things. But I try and keep my head up high, because I know that God has a great plan for me that will work itself out in the end.

A revista do mês de junho é dedicada a Woddy Allen e suas musas, e Scarlett é uma delas.

O editorial faz Scarlett incorporar outras pessoas que inspiram o trabalho de Woody e o resultado é uma delícia! As imagens divulgadas - o editorial completo só comprando a edição nas bancas! - colocam Scarlett como o ator de filmes mudos Buster Keaton, a atriz de teatro francesa Sarah Bernhardt, a atriz italiana e esposa do diretor Frederico Fellini, Giulietta Masina, e a atriz alemã naturalizada norte-americana Marlene Dietrich.

OK... não é um editorial de moda. Mas pelo menos não é mais uma atriz vestindo vestidos caríssimos e falando sobre como sua vida é ao mesmo tempo maravilhosa, entediante e difícil. Ponto pra Scarlett. 

lookbook love: ASOS outono/inverno 2011-12

Foi só eu reclamar que não estava vendo coisas que me emocionavam por aí pra poder falar a respeito no blog... A ASOS enviou seu catálogo promocional sobre a nova coleção outono/inverno 2011-12, que entrará à disposição no site a partir de agosto. O lookbook é uma viagem de volta à 1995; fiquei impressionada como muitas coisas eu já vesti ou vi em pessoas há uns 15 anos atrás... O espírito grunge iniciado por Marc Jacobs está super presente, e existem algumas peças super chiques que evocam mais o lado minimalista da década.

Apesar de me deprimir extremamente por ter entrado para o grupo das pessoas que reveem tendências (como era bom achar que tudo era novo e recém-criado!), fiquei empolgada demais com essa coleção! Sim, ela é um pouco difícil de ser usada - a quantidade de estilos que fazem você parecer mais gorda que é... - mas bem usada é um style statement como poucos.

Alguém mais se emociona com os anos 90? Ou com o cabelo da modelo? Tenho que dizer que meu cabelo tava assim antes do "assassinato"... mas, fazer o que. Vai crescer - espero eu!

E, como eu sempre digo, o bom de se estar no Brasil é saber sobre essas tendências com uma antecedência enorme e poder já comprar peças que poderão ser úteis pra esse inverno assim como o próximo! Então, se você curte esse estilo 90s, é bom olhar com calma o lookbook da ASOS.

Dolce & Gabbana aparecem comigo na Vogue UK!

Post rapidinho porque essa semana tô me afogando em trabalho. E também porque já estava há dias querendo escanear e colocar isso aqui e tempo, cadê... Mas enfim, tá aqui. É uma besteirinha - assumo, fiz propaganda um pouco enganosa no título... - mas queria compartilhar.

A Vogue UK, em finais de janeiro, pediu aos seus leitores que enviassem perguntas à Domenico Dolce e Steffano Gabbana, o duo mundialmente famoso pela marca que leva seus sobrenomes. A intenção era criar um especial comemorativo para os 25 anos de carreira dos designers, e acredito que deu tão certo que a reportagem foi um dos destaques da edição.

Enviei minha pergunta e um mês depois recebi um e-mail da Harriet Quick dizendo que fui selecionada! Saiu como se eu fosse de Barcelona porque, por coincidência, havia outra pergunta selecionada de uma carioca, e eles me perguntaram se eu me importaria de estar como representante da Espanha... Nada contra o meu país, mas entre não sair (ou tirar o lugar da outra pessoa, sabe-se lá se iam cortar uma das perguntas pra não ter duas do mesmo local), melhor tocar as castanholas. Mas o resultado que fica é: Brasil emergente não só na economia, na moda também!

Minha pergunta foi editada levemente, já que a que mandei estava um pouco grande (adoro escrever/falar demais...), mas o conteúdo se manteve o mesmo. Aqui segue a tradução em português:

"A forma como vocês desenham roupas aparenta ser direcionada à mulheres que não tem medo de parecerem sexy, independentes e bonitas. Vocês sentem que existe uma distância entre o que as "mulheres reais" querem e o que as "mulheres fashionistas' querem? Será que existe uma batalha entre sensualidade e ser fashion"?

Faltou uma parte da pergunta - entre a primeira e segunda frases - que era: "Contudo, muito raramente it girls e celebridades conhecidas por seu estilo escolhem peças Dolce & Gabbana. Vocês se sentem prejudicados por isso?". Acho que essa parte foi cortada porque, bem, é um pouco direta demais ao ponto - e não sei se a Vogue UK ia querer cutucá-los dessa forma. Mas acho que a pergunta como um todo não perdeu o seu sentido e eles até responderam essa parte cortada mesmo sem terem sido perguntados!

lookbook love: o minimalismo chic da Zara

Como já havia mencionado por aqui em outros posts, eu tô morrendo de amores por essa onda minimalista. A tendência me pegou desavisada; logo eu, pessoa que ama um mix de estampas, um floral, um excesso de informação... mas não adianta. Já coloquei quase tudo que tenho no meu armário pra um canto e tenho usado somente uma meia dúzia de peças simples, que já estavam mais que esquecidas.

Aí me vem a Zara com essa coleção arrasadora. A Inditex pegou a Céline, misturou com um pouco de Calvin Klein, pincelou com um Michael Kors e uma Chloé e eu #MORRI. Não passarei pela porta de uma Zara nos próximos dois meses - e olha que isso aqui é um feito de tamanho nababesco! -, senão vou ter que deixar um dente de ouro em pagamento.
