Beyonce Knowles - Beyonce Dominates U.K. Charts After Glastonbury Triumph

BEYONCÉ, ‘A STAR IS BORN’
Beyonce has raced to the top of the U.K. albums chart - her new release 4 has debuted at number one following her triumphant performance at Britain's Glastonbury festival.

The pop superstar won over critics and wowed attendees at the traditionally rock-orientated event when she headlined the main stage at last weekend's (27Jun11) gig, and her festival success has helped to boost sales of her music, old and new.

Her fourth solo project, 4, replaced Lady Gaga's Born This Way as Britain's best-selling album of the week, forcing the Paparazzi hitmaker to drop to number three behind Adele's 21.

Beyonce's previous discs, I Am Sasha Fierce and Dangerously In Love, also reappeared in the Top 50, as did her former band Destiny's Child's greatest hits album, #1's.

And she's also flying high in the U.K. singles chart - Best Thing I Never Had is a new entry at three, while R&B singer Jason Derulo (Don't Wanna Go Home) and rapper Example (Changed the Way You Kiss Me) remain in first and second place, respectively.

Kelly Rowland among most anticipated performers at BET Awards

Kelly Rowland,BET Awards,hollywood,actresses

If Twitter is any indication, the most anticipated performance in this evening’s BET Awards belongs to Kelly Rowland. Formerly of girl group Destiny’s Child, Rowland fell into obscurity for several years before staging a comeback that earned her two Grammys for her solo work. She has stepped even farther into the public view this summer through her role as a judge on Simon Cowell’s singing competition, “The X Factor,” in the U.K.

Yet, how big is Rowland’s comeback? And, more importantly, will she always be held up next to former group mate Beyoncé Knowles? It was widely reported that it was Knowles’ decision to leave Destiny’s Child, and rumored that the lead singer viewed her band mates as less talented liabilities who would hold her back.

It may be that very snub that’s kept comparisons between the two alive. Even Entertainment Weekly’s Brad Wete asked in his live blog of tonight’s awards, “Will Kelly Rowland outshine her Destiny’s Child bestie?”

But, the data is clear: according to the IMDB Star Meter (which has charted celebrity and entertainment world buzz on an individual basis since 2001), Rowland has a long way to go. Sitting at #9,505 (the lowest ranking she has seen since 2001), she is far away from her 2003 career high of #221. Beyoncé, on the other hand has never fallen below #5,600, and has a career high of #4. Her current standing, at #1,228, still shows her holding strong.

COLUMBIA PREPARES FOR THE WORST IN BEYONCE'S "4" ALBUM

Beyonce's latest album "4" will be released on June 28 but her label Columbia Records believes the album will not do as well as her previous albums because they feel it isn't as radio-friendly and commercial as they want it to be. But Beyonce, despite the suggestions her label hinted at, refused to make any changes or record new material. Columbia Records feel the solution to Beyonce rejuvenating her career would be to get back together with Destiny's Child and make another album.

A source explains the situation: "They're very nervous about Beyoncé's new record. It doesn't have the hit songs that her fans are used to. They asked her to make changes, but she said no. Beyoncé's career has stalled a bit. Columbia seems to think they can get some mileage out of a comeback record with all of the girls."

The Destiny's Child comeback album would be appropriately titled Family Reunion and could be out as soon as October of this year, but it seems now that Kelly Rowland is the member holding out since her solo career is skyrocketing right now. An insider claims, "She has her own solo career now, why would she want to be singing back up for Beyoncé?"

As of late, I haven't been a fan of Beyonce's sound with music but I respect the experimentation she's willing to take with different sounds. Plus every great artist doesn't come out with a "great" album every time, so give her a break! Every artist needs to grow and develop some way and who wants to hear the same type of Beyonce song. On "4", producers and songwriters include Ne-Yo, The Dream, Sean Garrett, Diplo, Jim Jonsin, Switch, Derek Miller, and Frank Ocean.

Beyonce's take of the album is, "I started off being inspired by [Afrobeat music pioneer] Fela Kuti. I actually worked with the band from Fela! [the hit Broadway musical based on his life] for a couple of days, just to get the feel for the soul and heart of his music; it’s so sexy, and has a great groove you get lost in. I loved his drums, all the horns, how everything was on the one. What I learned most from Fela was artistic freedom: he just felt the spirit. I also found a lot of inspiration in ’90s R&B, Earth, Wind & Fire, DeBarge, Lionel Richie, Teena Marie… I listened to a lot of Jackson 5 and New Edition, but also Adele, Florence + the Machine, and Prince."

Though her music career has stalled for a moment, I am definitely looking forward to another Destiny's Child reunion. But since Kelly Rowland is seeing music fame at the moment, I'm glad she's finally experiencing the success she's seen her other counterparts experience. Anyways check out Beyonce's album "4" to be released June 28th!!!

BEYONCE ESSENCE MAGAZINE COVER REVEALS WHITE FACE

Beyonce is featured on the July 2011 issue of Essence Magazine featuring her own cover story called "Eat Play Love" about her break from her busy lifestyle to focus on the simple pleasures in life: spending time with her hubby Jay-Z, her family, her nephew, having girls' night out, learning how to cook, and traveling with no agenda. Yes, she wrote the article too, now you can add Beyonce Knowles [the journalist]...

The photo shoot gives a glimpse of Beyonce's southern upbringing in Houston, Texas with a Western style theme. She looks gorgeous as always, but it's crazy how every time I see her in a photo spread or any advertisement, she looks like a white woman! I seriously thought she was a white woman when I saw these pics, her skin is lighter seems like it continues to get lighter and her hair is really blonde!

I've mentioned before her questionable blackface photo spread commemorating Fela Kuti, and I've also mentioned the rumors about her skin whitening, but seeing this spread just makes it seem true. No matter what color Beyonce was, the public loved her for her talent, not skin color. She's a beautiful and it seems confident woman, but why would she possibly go through a procedure like skin whitening? Is it true that the more "white" celebrities look, especially black celebrities, the more popular they will be? I sure hope not, but you can have a look for yourselves.

BALMAIN MAKES ITS WAY INTO HOLLYWOOD ROYALTY

BALMAIN is a fashion house created by French designer Pierre Balmain known for sophistication and elegance in 1945. The house at first started off showcasing long bell-shaped skirts with small waists that became popular as Dior's new look. In 1951, he opened branches in the U.S. selling ready to wear clothes. During the 50's he popularized the stole for day and evening wear as well as sheath dresses beneath jackets. Balmain's talent lay in his ability to make grand evening gowns and simple tailored suits using slender and elegant lines.

Passing away in 1982, Balmain's designs, most notably his vintage couture gowns still remain popular amongst the international jet-setters, movie stars, and socially prominent women. After his death, the house was taken over by Erik Mortensen and Oscar de la Renta [1993-2001] who brought classic, luxurious designs. Until 2011, the house was led by Christophe Decarnin who brought a more modern and edgier take. This past April of this year, Olivier Rousteing took over Balmain.

Seeing his designs make an appearance at the MTV Movie Awards this past Sunday made me intrigued to find out who this designer was. Kristen Stewart, Leighton Meester, and Mila Kunis wore his designs that night. What is also popular are the Balmain jackets that are military styled, very Michael Jackson-esque seen on Beyonce and Rihanna. Looking at his beautiful designs that have inspired designers after him, make me one day dream to wear one of the famous designs, I would be completely honored.

Beyonce Sings on 'Oprah' Finale, Accused of Copycat for Billboard Music Awards Performance

"The Oprah Winfrey Show" which features Beyonce Knowles has aired Monday night, May 23 as part of two-episode finale. The R&B diva delivered her first single "Run the World (Girls)", and footage of her performance at Chicago's United Center has landed online.

Wearing a tuxedo leotard, Beyonce stormed the stage and shouted, "Oprah, we can run the world!" She then led an army of sexy, geeky girls and scholarly dancers to an arousing performance. Oprah Winfrey watched from the audience row along with Tom Cruise.

In another news related to Beyonce, the wife of rapper Jay-Z was hit with unfavorable news once again. The "If I Were a Boy" hitmaker was accused of copying Italian singer Lorella Cuccarini for her show stopping performance at Billboard Music Awards on May 22.

Beyonce played with various visual and special effects for the Sunday night show. Her performance caused buzz on the web, drawing positive reviews from critics and fellow celebrities alike. Missy Elliott, Rihanna, Jermaine Dupri, Estelle, LeToya Luckett, Trey Songz, Omarion, Jazmine Sullivan and Taraji P. Henson were in awe after watching Beyonce at the awards show.

BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS WHITE CARPET

So Cannes is now over, and here are the Billboard Music Awards. Sad to say but the red carpet, I mean the "white carpet" was a bit of a let down in Sin City of all places!!! The color of the night was black, womp womp...where is the color when it's practically summer time!!!

BEYONCE: the "Artist of the Millenium" opted for a long sleeve Lanvin cocktail dress. Good thing she showed off the goods in her performance outfit, but Beyonce needed to shine more for her big day.

SELENA GOMEZ: this sexy songstress being amongst the youngest of the musicians, looked the most daring in this Dolce & Gabbana haltered black dress with high slit and cut out sides.

FERGIE: inspired by the S&M look, she strutted the white carpet in a Herve Leger by Max Azria Atlier dress. I wasn't feeling the leather detailing in the hip area, it was a bit too much and would've looked better if it was a tighter fit in that area.

KE$HA: now you'd think she would bring out the daring in Sin City, but Ke$ha toned it down from her usual "style" in a metallic sequined tulle and chiffon cut-out Jad Ghanour dress.

NICKI MINAJ: she literally sparkled in this light blue Mark Fast jumpsuit and bubblegum pink hair. Oohhh Nicki, she never seems to disappoint on any carpet, she brings it every time!!!

TAYLOR SWIFT: this angel definitely sparkled in Vegas with her Elie Saab gown that draped nicely on her tall figure, making her look very glamourous.

RIHANNA: kept it simple with an all white sleek Max Azria suit which stood out amongst her fire engine red hair. Anyone notice the low slit on her shirt though? Super low key.

KERI HILSON: looked like a dose of sunshine in this bright yellow Rachel Roy dress paired with a turquoise belt. Definitely feeling the bright color combo!

KELLY ROWLAND: she takes the prize on best dressed of the night with this hot pink Herve Leger dress. She totally embodies the womanly sexiness of Vegas, and she looks amazing without it being overdone.

BEYONCE OWNS THE BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS!!!

Beyonce was awarded the Artist of the Millenium last night at the Billboard Music Awards and she definitely deserved. Though I haven't been so pro-Beyonce as of late, she definitely shut me up with her performance yesterday.

The whole tribute to Beyonce started with her family and musicians saying nice things about her and talking about her great success at the young age of 29! Then she performed her latest hit Run the World [Girls] which was so creative and out-of-the-box that it's already considered one of the Top 10 Billboard Music Awards to this date! I've never seen a performance like this, and I seriously can't stop watching it. Beyonce combines innovation with her sexiness and immense talent she's ultimately known for, but she definitely raised the bar on this one.

What made this part of the show special was the award being presented by her mother Tina Knowles and nephew. During her acceptance speech, she thanked her family, all current and former members of Destiny's Child, even her husband Jay-Z there at the event, whom she described as her "best friend".

Nothing else to say but...BEYONCE RUNS THE WORLD!!!
