BEYONCE OWNS THE BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS!!!

Beyonce was awarded the Artist of the Millenium last night at the Billboard Music Awards and she definitely deserved. Though I haven't been so pro-Beyonce as of late, she definitely shut me up with her performance yesterday.

The whole tribute to Beyonce started with her family and musicians saying nice things about her and talking about her great success at the young age of 29! Then she performed her latest hit Run the World [Girls] which was so creative and out-of-the-box that it's already considered one of the Top 10 Billboard Music Awards to this date! I've never seen a performance like this, and I seriously can't stop watching it. Beyonce combines innovation with her sexiness and immense talent she's ultimately known for, but she definitely raised the bar on this one.

What made this part of the show special was the award being presented by her mother Tina Knowles and nephew. During her acceptance speech, she thanked her family, all current and former members of Destiny's Child, even her husband Jay-Z there at the event, whom she described as her "best friend".

BEYONCE RUN THE WORLD [GIRLS] VIDEO!!!

After long anticipation, Beyonce's video for Run the World [Girls] officially premiered yesterday, and yes everyone is talking about it. The song hasn't exactly caught on to me yet, so I was hoping the video would make me like the song more.

I admit, some of it is pretty catchy but still after watching the video, I'm not that into the track yet. The video was weird though, in the beginning it looks like Beyonce's head is something separated from her body. Despite being obviously beautiful, she looked creepy in some parts though, you will see when you watch it. Also like any other Beyonce video, you can expect a lot of hip and leg action.

BEYONCE RUNS THE WORLD!!!

After being accidentally leaked a few days ago, today is the official release date of Beyonce's Run the World (Girls).

It has a techno feel that many artists are turning to nowadays. This is another one of those Beyonce Girl Power songs which is typical of her in her numerous hits [Independent Women, Me Myself & I, Survivor, Diva, Single Ladies...]; the list could go on and on. Though many artists are turning to techno, it seems like the creativity lacks in the lyrics department because the techno beat substitutes verses for repeated phrases such as "WHO RUN THE WORLD?! GIRLS!"

Beyonce is one of the top alpha females in the game, so this song is definitely about her running the world. But very few women I think run it, it's a man's world and I believe it will be for awhile. What women do have is strength that surpasses any man. Through adversity and heartbreak, they end up pulling through and developing themselves to become better than they were yesterday. ALL MY WOMEN, WHO INDEPENDENT, THROW YOUR HANDS UP AT ME!!!
