Prince William & Kate In LA With A Splash Of Red, White And Blue As US Prepares for Kate-Mania

Well, this is the moment American royal watchers have been waiting for. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge touched down in California today for a whirlwind tour of the golden state. William and Kate flew into Los Angeles on the back of a successful tour of Canada - their first official overseas visit as a married couple.

The royal couple will be bypassing trips to Disneyland and the Kodak Theater this weekend in L.A., and instead will dive straight into charity work after touching down this afternoon.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge who stepped out clutching a red, white and blue bouquet, wore a lavender dress from London-based designer Roksanda.

The former Kate Middleton, who left Canada in a red satin and wool scarlet coat-dress by Catherine Walker, changed aboard. (In Canada) Wearing a cowboy hat that made her look a touch like Daisy Duke in hit TV show the Dukes of Hazzard (played by Catherine Bach), Kate looked thrilled by the high-energy excitement of the bull rides.

Earlier she and William watched the young sheep riders, or “mutton busters” strut their stuff. So, now they are in Californai. they will be greeted by Gov. Jerry Brown then whisked off to Variety’s Venture Capital and New Media Summit. "Welcome to California," Brown told them, and his wife gave Catherine a red, white & blue bouquet of flowers.

This is the first official visit of the couple which consists on nine day---"In 1939, my great grandmother, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, said of her first tour of Canada with her husband, King George VI: 'Canada made us.' Catherine and I now know very well what she meant," William said in a parting speech late Thursday.

Though Prince William has been to America before, it is Kate's first trip to the U.S. William's late mother, Princess Diana, who would have turned 50 this month, charmed Americans when she visited in the 1980s. (PHOTO CREDIT DAILY MAUIL)
